Going into this rewatch I was ready for it to be what I remembered as a kid. Simple boxing movie without much depth. I got the a very complex and engaging one instead. Almost immediately I became invested in the heart that Rocky as a character has. With nods to the American dream being a constant theme throughout. All he wants is to fight and be with Adrian. In doing so he attracts the likes of Mick, Paulie, and Adrian as well. The movie gives you so much time to watch the characters grow into a conclusion leading to the next inevitable chapter of Rocky’s life. By the end of the movie he screams for Adrian before anything else. The first thing he does is always Tell Adrian a bad joke when he sees her. There’s so many small things just layered on top of each other in the story it really lets you fall in love with their story. The cinematography is also fantastic, there’s some strange audio things I noticed but if you don’t know to listen for it you’ll probably miss it. I had a lot of fun watching this movie and gonna review the rest of them too to see if they hold up just as well.
