Let’s start this review off with, I’m pretty biased. Batman is a cool fucking character and if you’re a big fan like me you’ve most likely either heard of/read this story. It’s not canon so there’s no need to go in with expectations like that, that was the whole point of the comic. This first part starts strong and looks just how the comics do. They didn’t miss a beat with any of it. It was nice and bloody, they stayed true to the story, and they certainly put a lot of TLC into this movie because DAMN is this animation fucking gorgeous. There are several moment where my jaw dropped from either shock or amazement. I could help but get only more excited for part two which I’m watching tomorrow. The interesting look you get into these characters we grew up with and they’re aging. Batman had retired and only came back due to his complex. Two face lives in his own special kind of hell. The allusion towards Joker’s upcoming arc is amazing as well from the bits we see from him. One of the things I highly appreciated was the attention they put on the mutants. Them not being our normal villains we encounter made me worry how much screen time they’d get. My expectations were exceeded. All of the fight scenes and interactions between the mutants and the world they’re trying to conquer feels like a real threat that Batman is worried about. It’s fucking classic Batman what else can I say? I’m just so happy right now this movie is my FUCKING shit.
