After several years of not giving a fuck about this show because of its shitty following, I’m dedicating my time to watching this show. So people will stop telling me I should watch it. Now it’s not like I’ve never seen the show before. I’ve seen episodes here and there. But this is the first time I am getting to really know these characters and how Dunder Mifflin runs. This first season feels a lot like what the original UK version did but with Michael Scott. The show does a really good job of making characters like able whether you agree with them or not. While I was binge watching it I found the interesting pattern where something absolutely bizarre happens, a smaller character reacts to it in a way similar to most people, the oopsie factor. Michael makes Dwight handle medical care paper work, no one is satisfied with the shitty job Dwight did, Michael promises a surprise in turn but fails to deliver and gets caught with nothing. There are often episodes like this where a lot will happen and at the end none of it will mean a god damn thing because despite how ridiculous these people are they somehow still live in the real world and play by real rules. That medical paper work was due by 5 and it’s past that now, so all that stress was no longer worth it. The characters interact with each other in really interesting ways. Michael Scott is my favorite right now only because he reminds me of a wannabe Bugs Bunny. And the insane shit he says just baffles me sometimes and can’t help but laugh. Jim and Pam are also great characters in that they’re a lot closer to a regular person’s wavelength than Michael or let alone Dwight. You tend to agree with most of their actions and see them as rather more realistic in comparison to some of the other workers. Besides Jim’s pranks. Putting things in Jello is one of the more genius ideas of this century I have to say. I don’t hate this show but it just seems like all anime filler. I did have to go back and rewatch episodes because they were rather forgettable. And the only real progress being made is with Jim and Pam. These first six episodes are pretty ok. I’m gonna still try and finish the show, but it’s no ten. Sometimes the writing is good but other times it just goes no where, the actors and characters are A1, and it’s definitely watchable.
