This movie really is surreal. The fact it even exists is something I have to remember. This was a movie I was waiting for since I was in highschool or even before. The thought of where these characters would go next? What new things would Randal and Dante learn this time? What kinda fuck shit are Jay and Bob up to? Even with the reboot that felt very referency and uninspired, I was hoping this movie would stay away from that and stick to its guns. I was right, but what I saw as respect for Kevin Smith I also saw as needless references. His want to fan service even himself is showing in this movie still and it can be very easy to spot and pull you out of the otherwise very powerful experience. They really face life and death inspired by Kevin’a heart attack that almost took him too soon. I’d be curious to see how much of this is like a disaster artist type deal where some of this has some truth to it. Randal and Dante really shine in this film. The acting is so impressive and raw. Dante’s arc really pulls your heart strings and got me to cry once even. This was a very mature ending to a universe we should all be glad he isn’t beating like a dead horse. And I will definitely watch this again. Is it my favorite? No. The original still holds the top position out of the three.
