Surprisingly awful work by an oscar-winning director who gave us The Silence of the Lambs. Not sure why Jonathan Demme would take on the adaptation of such a segregation-saturated novel. The meaning of Toni Morrisson’s book flew right over his head. Also, whose idea was it to cast Oprah?!
