7/10. This was one of my favourite films as a child and I still love the storyline to this day. It’s so magical and so quintessentially 1950s. However, that is sadly part of the issue. As much as I love how whimsical this film is, there are parts that are racist and sexist which we cannot forget nor ignore. The animation stands up to the test of time but the comments about Native people and women do not. That said, I think it’s good Disney aren’t ignoring or trying to hide these parts by acknowledging that this was wrong then and is still wrong now. It’s a shame as I used to have such fond memories of this film in my childhood.
