The family history, which is told at a somnolent pace at the beginning of the film, offers no potential for conflict, drama or false ground, so that nothing quite happens in the first hour. When the targeted monster terror finally breaks ground in the finale, however, there is no trace of the characteristic tension. Now director Walker saves the cheap effects of the trash film - the handmade creature design is neat, albeit unspectacular - but not the empty phrases, pale characters and the almost non-existent plot. Here “The Tank” again draws from the full. The result is neither funny trash, nor atmospheric slow-burn, nor exciting terror - just a traditional horror film without any notable visual value.
