However, it is the mix of tragedy and comedy that makes the film rousing. It is true that the character traits of Otto, Marisol and Co. seem exaggerated in places. But this is quickly forgiven when you see how the film develops. "A Man Called Otto" can be enjoyed with one laughing eye and one crying eye. For as sad as it is in places, the film shows how important it is to open up to one's fellow human beings and not to endure one's suffering alone.
