This is one of the most fantastic films I’ve ever watched. It goes beyond horror—touching on beauty, self-concept, and how far we’re willing to go for recognition.
The film shows how beauty is linked to success, but also how everything—fame, attention, even the perfect version of ourselves—fades with time. The more we chase it, the more unbalanced we become. Elizabeth, unhappy with how she looks, takes a shortcut. It works at first, but the pressure to maintain that beauty slowly destroys both versions of her.
The most powerful line for me was “You are one.” No matter how different we look or feel, we’re still the same person underneath. The scene where she tries to get rid of Sue but ends up holding onto her shows how deeply we depend on the version of ourselves that brings external success—even if it’s not sustainable.
In the end, when she says “It’s still me,” and no one listens, it hit hard. That’s exactly how it feels when people only see the surface.
Because beauty comes from within—and we’re the ones who give it life. Either way, we are one. And no matter what form we take, underneath it all… it’s still me.
The essence, not the substance.
