While I think the biopic functioned mainly as an above average tale, the way in which family was emphasized in contrast to Mercury’s loneliness was well done. I’m also over the moon with the use of the Live Aid set as pretty much the entirety of Act 3, and using the narrative beats of the film to match the rise and fall of the songs used in the set. It’s hard for me to be objective about a movie featuring one of my favorite bands of all time, but the way they emphasized Queen as a force of nature and the personalities behind that really emphasize what a biopic should be about.
