Competent, but relies too much on the audience making assumptions about connecting the dots, which makes the narrative weak. The effects are dated, and while this wouldn’t typically hurt a film in my eyes, they’re used so heavily with few forays into practical effects that the world doesn’t seem unified. It does do some effective world building, though, and the characters are fun.
