Taxi Tehran is a clever, powerful film disguised as a simple taxi ride. Directed by Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi—who was banned from making films—it takes place entirely inside a taxi he drives through the streets of Tehran. As different passengers come and go, each one reveals a slice of Iranian life, touching on topics like censorship, justice, gender inequality, and personal freedom.

There’s no traditional plot—it’s more like a moving mosaic of real conversations and quiet resistance. The brilliance lies in its simplicity: everyday voices reflecting the struggles, humor, and resilience of life under a repressive regime. At its core, it’s both a political statement and a love letter to the people of Iran.
