Suprisingly good! I will start by saying that even if it is a supernatural action movie, you would never fuess it at the beginning, and the characters are so charismatic that you get sucked in rught away. The movie feels like it is cut in acts and even the cut of the scenes seems to say so. The first part will seem like a very historical plot with something to do with culture in those times but then it comoletely turns and crime, drama, twists and turns start to happen. The script was nice, acting very good from main cast to supporting cast and the picture was very compelling, having the lighter colours and scenery at the beginning and then gets really dark with contrasts which helped the story as well. The best part of all was the culture representation, love, music and soul but at the same time the struggle, the hunger and determination of those times. Soul music takes over the movie and it is just fantastic, it brings the whole film to life. The scene in the juke joint when the blues starts and then you see the evolution from the past and from the future mesh together was beautifully created and executed. The only small critic I may have is the very stereotypical representation of ‘vampires’, they brought in stakes, garlic, juju and the sun 😂 it was beautifully executed and special effects and make-up seemed very authentic but too stereotypical. Overall, a very good movie, the story is nothing to complicated or detailed but ut does the job of everything that goes on around it. The main focus in this film is probably the direction, music and photography. I would definetly recommend watching because it is a good time.
